Dr George and Mary Zochowski were invited to be the Grand Marshal of the 2020 Street Fair Parade by the Rotary Club of Pataskala.
Since the 2020 parade had to be canceled afterwards due to the global coronavirus pandemic, Dr and Ms Zochowski will join the 2021 Grand Marshals in this year’s Pataskala Street Fair parade at noon on Saturday. 21st of August.
They join 2021 Grand Marshals Dwight Hudson and Bruce Hart.
Dr George and Mary Zochowski moved to Pataskala in the early 1970s and quickly became invaluable to the community. Mary gave up her job as an English teacher / librarian when they made Pataskala their new home, and “Dr. George”, or “Dr. Z, â€as some affectionately call him, has opened a general practitioner practice on Oak Meadow Drive.
In addition to his regular office hours, Dr. George took the time to serve both Licking Heights and Southwest Licking for many years as a “Team Doctor†for football games – home and away.
He received the High School Physician Hall of Fame award for his 18 years of service as a local high school football doctor in the community.
He was also known to have offered athlete / college scholarships to deserving graduates. In addition, Dr. George took the time to do football and sports physical exercises for our local young athletes.
Busy as he was, Dr George accepted the post of medical director of the West Licking Fire Department and served for over thirty years.
In 1980, Dr George received the Service to Mankind Award from the former Four Town Sertoma Club of Pataskala. More recently, and in recognition of his community volunteerism, Dr. George was inducted into the Watkins Memorial Wall of Honor in 2019.
Dr. George moved into his new office building on Ohio 310 in the late 1990s and is in his 48th year serving the Pataskala area. Notably, he is one of a handful of dedicated medics who still provide “patient care†to Mt. Carmel Hospital.
Dr George remains busy in his medical practice which is currently known as the Ohio Health Physicians Group.
Dr George and Mary celebrated their 50th birthday last year with their children who are also involved in the medical field. Adam (wife Jennifer) is a general surgeon with Central Ohio Surgical Associates, Inc; Tonia supervises the practice of Dr George; Nicole, a gynecologist / obstetrician, owns a business called Her Health Obgyn Inc .; and Christopher (wife Sarah), is a well-known plastic surgeon with a business in Columbus known as “Zochowski Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery”.
